Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

Thanks to all of our volunteers who helped make the Billy Joe Royal concert a huge success! We also appreciate all of those who helped staff information booths in front of The Strand during Art in the Park, the Harvest Square Arts Festival, and the Antique Festival. What fun we have had this year! Check back for more volunteering opportunities in the near future.

Ushers and Usherettes

People from the community are encouraged to volunteer their time and efforts to support the campaign. Four different volunteer opportunities are currently available for individuals to become involved:
 
Ushers and Usherettes – whether a former usher at The Strand, the ushers and usherettes will serve as hosts and hostesses at fundraising events and, once open, will help people find their way around the new strand theatre.  In the early stages, this group will learn more about the efforts to renovate The Strand, the improvements being made, and the entertainment opportunities and economic vitality it will bring to our community.
 
It is hoped that one or two of the ushers from years past will step forward and chair this committee.
 
Historians – those interested in searching out more information about The Strand will work within the community to find artifacts and to possibly record “living histories” by people here in Marietta that grew up attending the movies and other events at The Strand.  Joanne Woodward is just one of the notables that have fond memories of The Strand.

Fundraising and friendraising – those interested is seeking contributions, large and small, for this worthwhile campaign are encouraged to volunteer to solicit gifts, make appeals to civic clubs and other associations, and to serve as community ambassadors.  Earl Smith, chairman of Friends of The Strand, will chair the fundraising committee.

You will receive an auto reply stating that the e-mail was received and your email address will be added to our database.  You will be notified via email when the first meeting is planned for your specific event.
